An important part of the HigherEd 2.0 mission is training of other educators in some of the tools, technologies, and techniques associated with the program. The PDF files below are the current generation (V 1.0) of our training materials on podcasting and bloging. There's also our introduction and overview presentation, as well as some information and ideas on student generated content and HigherEd 2.0 resources. Introduction to HigherEd 2.0
| This module introduces the NSF-supported program on HigherEd 2.0, including the scope of the program, the partnerships we've already developed, and tools and techniques we employ, and the aspirations for the project. | Basics of Podcasting
| Podcasting is one of the central tools used in the HigherEd 2.0 program. Its subscription basis, management in iTunes, and versatility in delivering many different types of media (.m4a, quicktime, etc.) makes it an excellent candidate for course material delivery AND student content creation. This module gives an overview of podcasting and includes specific software options for content creation. | | Basics of Blogging | Blogging is the course communication tool of choice because of its subscription basis, ubiquitous access, and its ability to promote student community development. Students can interact asynchronously and still form a sense of of the social context of learning for the course. The blog represents a living thread which permeates the course and always has something to offer. This module describes how you can quickly get started with blogging using free tools. | Use of Student Generated Content
| Student generated content (SGC) is a pedagogically powerful tools for conveying course concepts. Modern HigherEd 2.0 technologies empower learners to create high-quality, accessible course materials for sharing, and they take advantage of the subscription nature of podcasting and blogging protocols. This module suggests some engineering examples of SGC, and will hopefully stimulate your ideas for how to use SGC in your own discipline. | HigherEd 2.0 Resources
| This module gives a broad overview of some hardware and software resources we have found useful, but it really is just a broad overview of the many productive and engaging tools available for HigherEd 2.0 teaching. This module also explains a little more about our NSF program and how you can participate. |
